Looking to spend some time outdoors and take in the fall colors?

There's a new park with more than 65 acres of woods, meadows, ponds, and thousands of feet of river frontage along the Grand and Rogue rivers for visitors to enjoy.

Grand Rogue Park in Plainfield Township is now officially open at 6400 West River Drive.

Plainfield Township Supervisor Bob Homan tells Wood TV 8 the park is 15 years in the making.

Grand Rogue Park sits on property that used to be a campground, golf course, and gravel pit. Thousands of feet of river frontage along the Grand and Rogue rivers provides opportunities for public access. The park also offers hiking opportunities on unpaved natural trails.

According to the Township, future park amenities will include fishing piers, picnic shelters, kayak and canoe launches, a scenic overlook of the Grand River, and additional parking.

The park is open from sunrise to sunset and parking is available in the gravel lot near the main entrance drive. Visitors can access a map of the park with their smartphone by hovering its camera over the QR code on each trail marker.
