If you're a minimum wage worker in Michigan, you'll be getting a raise January 1, 2018. 

WZZM-13 reports the current minimum wage, $8.90/ hour will increase to $9.25/ hour next year.

This is the last increase under Public Act 139, Workforce Opportunity Wage Act of 2014 (WOWA).

According to the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs,

Any future adjustments after January 2018 shall not exceed 3.5 percent and will be established by the State Treasurer based on the unemployment rate and the Consumer Price Index."

Under WOWA, Michigan workers who are tipped may be paid 38 percent of the state's minimum wage. According to the Detroit Free Press, tipped workers received $3.38/ hour in 2017 and will get to $3.52/ hour in 2018.
