With the August primary and the November general election fast approaching some Michigan counties are struggling to find enough election workers.

During most elections, the elderly makeup the majority of volunteers and workers used at polling stations and to count ballots.  However, because of the coronavirus pandemic, many of them have decided to stay at home and not risk possibly catching the virus.  This has caused a shortage of election workers statewide with an especially bad shortage in Oakland and Wayne counties in the Metro Detroit area.

The state has started a campaign called Democracy MVP to get people to sign up to become election workers.  You can check out one of the YouTube videos they released below.

You can still sign up to be an election worker for both the August and November elections and keep in mind that it is a paid position.
