The Geek Group, a business on Grand Rapids' west side, is asking for the public's help in identifying two people who opened their fence and let their dog, Mackie, out into rush hour traffic on Leonard St. Wednesday morning.

According to a Facebook post from Chris Boden from The Geek Group, two individuals unlocked and opened their fence at 8:24 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, allowing Mackie to leave the fenced in area and head out into traffic.

Thankfully, Boden reports that Mackie is okay, but he would still like to find the people responsible.

Boden isn't being malicious or vindictive about it, though, and has offered the two perpetrators a choice: come forward and volunteer for 50 hours to atone for what they've done, OR have to deal with the police.

Upon reading this and realising just how totally screwed you are, you two can walk in the front door here and volunteer for your 50 hours of community service. If you do that, I will meet with your parents and make sure they sign off on it and that you have their permission to be here, and why. I will put you to work doing what you can be sure are “not fun” tasks for 8 hours and you will learn a valuable lesson in taking responsibilities for your actions and respecting other people’s property.

If you turn yourself in, this ends quietly and peacefully. If you don’t, I’ll make you famous.

Actions have consequences, decisions have consequences. Now is the time for you to make good choices.

Boden also uploaded security footage from the incident to YouTube:
