Kent District Library has closed all branches to the public in response to COVID-19.

The library said in a statement,

Kent District Library is taking several steps to protect our staff and the general public – in particular the high-risk populations we serve and the high-risk populations who work and volunteer for the library. In the interest of mitigating the impact of the virus, the library is closed to public access. Programs, outreach visits, bookmobile visits and book sales are cancelled.

At this time, KDL plans to reopen when schools plan to reopen on April 6.

KDL has branches in East Grand Rapids, Plainfield Township, Cascade Township, Alto, Walker, Wyoming, and more; a full list of locations can be found here.

The library says they are continuing to monitor the situation, and updates will be provided here.

All all due dates for anything checked out from KDL branches have been extended through May 1.

KDL will continue to offer many digital services remotely and for free, like eBooks, eAudiobooks, movies, music, newspapers, magazines and more.
