This morning, John Ball Zoo announced that a long-time resident has died.

Yaki, a 25-year-old adult male white-faced Saki monkey, passed away last week.

Yaki came to John Ball Zoo in 1996. He was paired with Helen. Together they had seven children and three grandchildren which have been placed in five different zoos.

Yaki lived relatively long. The median life expectancy for male saki monkeys in human care is 21 years.

White-faced Saki monkeys live in tropical rain forests and rarely come to the ground. They are not endangered, but they are considered vulnerable.
