The John Ball Zoo had hoped to be open for the weekend to guests, however, they've made the decision to hold off on that for the time being.

The decision didn't come lightly, a press release from the zoo states.

...we have sought insight from our partners at the state, county, city, community, and law enforcement to gain the clarity needed for JBZ to open. In the end, it is clear that opening on May 29 is not in the best interest...

The reasoning being "lack of clarity" regarding the current state of the pandemic.

The zoo already has safety protocols in place such as additional cleaning, limiting the amount of guests, adding hand-washing stations throughout the zoo, and closing indoor facilities and experiences (bummer).

When they do reopen, guests will be welcomed to a new and updated front entry plus they have a new meerkat exhibit and BRICKLIVE Animal Paradise.

A new date for reopening hasn't been announced yet. In the meantime, you can follow them on social media for cute pictures of the animals along with their Zoo Insider videos.

This news comes a day after the JBZoo announced the welcoming of their new Siberian Tiger, Mabelle who was transferred from the Columbus Zoo.
