Probation Check Leads to Disturbing Discovery in Mt. Morris

A Mid-Michigan man who was already on probation for abandoning dogs is now facing even more disturbing accusations. Authorities say 33-year-old Casey Kidd was running a dog fighting operation out of his home in Mt. Morris Township.

The investigation began during a routine probation compliance check on March 3. When police and probation officers arrived at Kidd’s home on Bertha Avenue, what they found was heartbreaking. Nine dogs were discovered in terrible condition. Some were chained up outside, while others were kept inside the house. All of them showed signs of neglect, malnourishment, and injuries consistent with dog fighting.

Suspect Accused of Running Dog Fighting Operation

Police say they also found equipment commonly used to train fighting dogs, including a large treadmill designed to build strength and endurance.

As if that was not enough, authorities also discovered firearms and ammunition inside the home. Because of previous felony convictions, Kidd is legally prohibited from possessing any weapons.

Prior Flint Case Raises Serious Concerns

This case becomes even more disturbing when you look at his past. In 2023, eight dogs were found chained up at a Flint home connected to Kidd. Six of those dogs died from starvation. He later pleaded no contest and was sentenced to probation in 2025.
