UPDATE: Less than a day later, First National Bank of Michigan credited $10,000 back to the Harbor Humane Society after someone stole it from the nonprofit.

According to their Facebook post about it,

"We are so thankful to them and to everyone's kind words and support! Any funds raised from this post will continue to help support the thousands of animals we take in every year, like Luther! We truly live in the best community."

You would think that after this animal shelter threw a birthday party for Betty White for the Betty White Challenge, it would be a fabulous day.

Unfortunately, it was not for the Harbor Humane Society in Olive, Michigan.

On their Facebook page, Harbor Humane Society announced that their workers realized someone had stolen almost $10,000 from the nonprofit!

Well, today we discovered that someone, somehow, STOLE nearly $10,000 from us. To seemingly pay off some credit card debt. While we hope to eventually get this money back, it's just so disheartening, and those are dollars that truly have an impact on the daily, the medical, the emergency care that our homeless pets need and deserve.

WHO THE HECK STEAL FROM AN ANIMAL SHELTER?

I just want to find this so-called person and have a little chat with them because this is ridiculous.

Even the shelter has questions of its own.

WHY would someone steal from a shelter?! It's beyond our comprehension. But we continue to remind ourselves WHY we are here and look at faces like Luther who are now safe and have a second chance. And that is enough.

You would think that this is the first time that this has happened but myself and Susanna K. think that this is happening way too consistently.

This seems to be a trend...Pound Buddies was robbed the same way. Someone got their banking info.

Sadly, this is not the first time that this has happened and it was the EXACT SAME AMOUNT!

Back in November of 2022, the Muskegon Humane Society was also robbed of $10,000 because of a ridiculous check scam.
