A Michigan Woman Won $1 Million in the Powerball and Kept It a Secret for an Entire Year
I've seen news stories in the past talking about what someone should do if they won a record amount of money playing Mega Millions or Powerball.

It's often advised to not tell anyone and to get a lawyer to help you prepare for this major change in your life.
A Michigan woman who won a Powerball drawing, kept it a secret but also waited until the last week possible to cash it in before the money was forfeited.
Theresa Lynchosky lives in Rochester Hills and recently made the trip to Michigan Lottery headquarters to cash in her winning ticket.
She shared what she did after she won the drawing.
“I regularly play Powerball and purchase my tickets online. The day after the drawing I logged on to my Lottery account and was stunned when a notification popped up saying I won $1 million! I took a screenshot of the pop-up and kept going back and looking at it because I couldn’t believe it was real.
“I decided to wait to the claim the prize for personal reasons and didn’t tell anyone about the big win until last week when I told my best friend. I was so happy to finally share the news with someone and I’m even happier to be here claiming my prize after waiting a year.
“I still don’t have the words to describe what winning this prize means to me. I feel so grateful and blessed!”
This lucky woman isn't the only person to win big playing the Michigan Lottery.
A man visiting Michigan from Maryland recently won $1,000,000 playing a Lucky Numbers instant win ticket.
A Bay County woman who had been playing Lotto 47 for 20 years with the same numbers hit it big and won $1.1 million.
And an Oakland County woman playing Fantasy 5 online accidentally selected a wrong number that resulted in her winning $250,000.
