When I first heard the news that Woosah Outfitters and Outside Coffee Co. were closing their Wealthy Street doors, it felt like the end of an era for that beautiful garden space. But as I shared with you earlier this year, owner Rae Lang was simply passing the torch to make room for a brand new East Hills hangout: A new brewery and food truck court.

Picnic: Grand Rapids New Food Truck Garden

The first half of that promise arrived in May when Picnic officially opened!

Located in the former Outside Coffee Co. space at 734 Wealthy St. SE, this outdoor food truck garden has spent the last couple of months serving as a neighborhood hotspot. The garden is filled with picnic tables, plenty of greenery, and chairs arranged around cozy fire pits.

The Picnic features two permanent anchor food trucks. Pacific Moon offers Hawaiian and Indonesian-inspired dishes, including Sakura Pork Katsu, Milk Bun Sandwiches, Curry Bowls, and more.

Head over to Waldorf Creamery for handcrafted cheeses, fresh sweets, and frozen treats. There is also a rotating schedule that brings in different local trucks to complement the anchors, making it a great spot to sit outside and enjoy a local bite.

Now, the second half of the project is right on the horizon!

You pay $100 a year and that gets you your own numbered mug and each beer will only be $5 every time you come in. While they cannot legally serve alcohol just yet, you can still stop by to tour the completed space, buy some merchandise, or grab one of their house-made sodas on Friday.

It's sounding like Our Brewing Company has their fingers crossed for a grand opening next week. Follow them on Facebook for updates!
