Help Michigan State Police Win Best Looking Cruiser Contest
When it comes to police vehicles, few are as instantly recognizable as the bold blue cruisers of the Michigan State Police. With their striking paint job and signature red bubble light, the “Blue Goose” patrol cars are iconic. But is it the best-looking police car in the country? Now’s your chance to help decide!

The Michigan State Police “Blue Goose” is competing in the annual American Association of State Troopers "Best Looking Cruiser" contest.

If you’ve ever wondered how MSP cruisers got the "Blue Goose" nickname, it goes way back. In the 1930s, state police vehicles were black with a gold stripe. But in 1954, the commissioner wanted a more distinctive look. He went with bright blue. Troopers at the time weren’t impressed—they thought the color was flashy and jokingly called the car the “Blue Goose,” after a well-known commercial bus line, according to the Ionia Sentinel Standard. The name stuck. Decades later, it’s now a badge of honor.
Currently one of those "Blue Goose" cars is in third place in the cruiser contest, MSP shared on social media.
This year’s entry features MSP’s 2024 Dodge Durango patrol vehicle in front of one of Michigan's most legendary landmarks: The Mackinac Bridge. It's a stunning shot!

Third place isn't too shabby, right? The bad news is... Ohio is beating us! Yes, the Ohio State Patrol car is in second place. I don't know how cool the cruiser is, but the dog sure is cute...
At this point, first place belongs to the Florida Highway Patrol (okay, their cruiser is pretty sharp). It's a Corvette Stingray they picked up through an asset forfeiture program.
