Jose Babushka’s in East Grand Rapids is temporarily closing, but don’t worry, it’s not goodbye!

The longtime local favorite is getting ready to celebrate 11 years in business at the end of this month, and it is marking the milestone with a refresh. The Wealthy Street restaurant announced it will close beginning February 22 for renovations, with plans to reopen in the second week of March.

Owners say guests can expect a fresh new look inside, along with big screens for catching your favorite games. The menu is growing, too. While the staples that regulars love are staying put, Jose Babushka's is adding new appetizers, burgers, wings, sandwiches, wraps, and salads.

If you have a go-to order, you’re safe! The house made salsa is staying along with popular menu items like "Your Mama's Tacos" and the "Buenos Noches" margarita.

In a message to customers, the Kavo family thanked the community for more than a decade of support, meals, and memories. They called the past 11 years an incredible ride and said they are excited for what comes next.
