The Everyday Chef and Wife, a personal chef and catering business, is going to be opening up a storefront and café in the space formerly occupied by Cherry Deli at 834 Cherry St. SE.

The husband and wife team shared the news to Facebook in August, saying,

We have officially bought the Cherry Deli building! This has been a dream of ours for years and we can’t believe it’s finally coming true! It’s overwhelming, but we are ecstatic to continue to grow our business. Lots of changes are about to happen so make sure you follow along and watch for updates!! We CANNOT wait to show you the plan!!

In early October, they posted an update: "Massive things are happening... [We] cannot wait to share..."

According to MiBiz, Everyday Chef and Wife has been in business for a decade, with owners Jason and Kate McClearen operating out of a food truck and shared kitchen spaces.

They tell MiBiz that moving into a brick-and-mortar kitchen of their own is a needed next step.

Jason says,

Our main goal is to have food that is handmade, local and organic. We say that if we can’t make it ourselves from scratch then we’ll partner with other people in town.

MiBiz reports the couple plans to open in phases in the former Cherry Deli building.

They are renovating the kitchen to use for catering events and they'll be opening a retail storefront and café, with grab-and-go food items and tasty treats.

Here's a look at some of the food items from The Everyday Chef and Wife Facebook page:

The McClearens are  hoping to have some to-go items available for the 2022 holiday season, and to have the storefront fully open by spring of 2023.
