UPDATE: Closed Grand Rapids Brewery Auctioning Off Furniture, TVs, Kitchen Equipment + More

UPDATE: 3/5/25 After three and half years in business, a Grand Rapids-area brewery permanently closed last month.

Now, 3 Gatos Brewery at 1760 44th St SW #8 in Wyoming, is auctioning off all assets and equipment via an online auction at Orbit.com.

According to MLive, the online auction opens at 8a.m. on Monday March 10 and will begin closing at 6p.m. March 11. An onsite preview is available March 11 10a.m. to 5p.m. 

The auction includes tables, chairs, TVs, sound equipment, glassware, décor, ovens, refrigerators, bar tap system, kegs, barrel brewing system, fermentation tanks, other brewing accessories, and more.

3 Gatos Brewery in Wyoming will shut its doors in a few weeks.

The bar first opened at 1760 44th Street SW in the summer of 2021. The site was previously home to Kitzinger Brewery.

Owners describe it as the "Boteco of West Michigan" - a Boteco is a typical neighborhood bar in Brazil.

3 Gatos beer is made with Michigan ingredients and includes Pilsners, IPAs, Sours, Stouts, Ales, and more.

On the menu you'll find Brazilian appetizers like Fried Yucca, Coxinha and Pasteis (Brazilian Dumplings), along with finger foods like French Fries and a Soft Pretzel.

The restaurant offered build-your-own Smash Burgers as well.

On January 13 owner Linus De Paoli shared news of the 3 Gatos' closure to Facebook, saying, in part:

This was one of the most difficult decisions I've ever taken in my life.

 

I feel like I failed you. I've put my heart and soul into 3 Gatos. I tried everything that I knew of to make it a sustainable business. Brewed beers to the best of my abilities and knowledge, presented you with food and culture from Brazil, tried to create a welcoming and open environment, and organized all types of events. But we never managed to draw enough people to come and experience it all. And the slowdown in hospitality and in craft beer hit us really hard, especially during the second half of 2024.

He thanks thanks those who have supported the business and those who donated to crowdfunding efforts this past fall:

It helped alleviate some of the bill pressure for a while. But November and December brought reality back and very slow business and difficulties in paying our bills again.
At this point, I don't have the money or the energy to keep trying to make it work. So I decided to close and focus on myself.

3 Gatos will close its doors February 8, 2025.

De Paoli adds,

And if the Lions make it to the Superbowl we can all watch the Big Game together here at 3 Gatos.
