Sad news for the women's basketball team at Hope College. The coronavirus has put an end to the perfect season.

According to WOOD, DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland is now in silence as the NCAA has canceled the season for Hope's women's basketball team.

Coach Brian Morehouse has developed Hope College women's basketball team into an elite team in the NCAA. Morehouse said, "you walk through this arena that was so full of life, energy and vibrating. It's just empty."

The team was hit hard by the news from the NCAA to cancel the season and with being ranked number 1 with a 29-0 record, its even more heartbreaking knowing the ladies were four games away from the school's third national championship.

Morehouse said, "I walked in there, I just looked at them and they were already crying. I started to cry and I said, guys, there is no script for this. I don't know what to say except for thank you."

Morehouse went on to say, "we don't live in a world of perfect anymore, you ran a perfect season."

A childhood dream was so close for these young women.

Morehouse said, "we wanted to just have closure, whether it was a loss or a win. Yet we understand 100% why the NCAA did it. We understand exactly what's going on in America. We Support it. We understand it."

Hopefully a banner will be swinging in the rafters some day to mark this incredible season by these incredible young women.
