It may be a little later than normal, but the Social Security Administration (SSA) has released their list of the most popular baby names of 2019.

According to an article from Very Well Family, the list of popular baby names is usually released by the SSA right before Mother's Day.  But, due to the coronavirus pandemic, they announced that the release of the list would be delayed.

So, after much waiting, here are the top 10 boy and girl names of 2019.

Most Popular Girl Names Of 2019

  1. Liam
  2. Noah
  3. Oliver
  4. William
  5. Elijah
  6. James
  7. Benjamin
  8. Lucas
  9. Mason
  10. Ethan

Liam holds on to the top spot for the third year in a row and Noah also stayed in second place.  Oliver and Elijah also went up in ranking, while William dropped one spot.

Most Popular Girl Names Of 2019

  1. Olivia
  2. Emma
  3. Ava
  4. Sophia
  5. Isabella
  6. Charlotte
  7. Amelia
  8. Mia
  9. Harper
  10. Evelyn

After 5 years of holding the number one spot, Emma finally dropped to second, being overtaken by Olivia.  Ava held her rank while Sophia and Isabella swapped spots.
