Happy Birthday to the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, celebrating 50 years of serving West Michigan.

In celebration, the airport is hosting a thank-you celebration TODAY from 1-3 p.m. There will be give-aways, prize drawings, and cupcakes and popcorn for everyone in attendance.  It's always fun to go to the airport, so see if you can help them celebrate.

Our news partner, WZZM TV13, reminded me that In 1963, the ribbon-cutting ceremony was set to happen on November 23, which ended up being the day after President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Although the airport officially opened on that day as planned, the celebration was delayed until June.
