Author, Robert Lupton, author of the book "Toxic Charity: How Churches and Charities Hurt Those They Help," will be the keynote speaker for the Guiding Light Missions Annual Banquet.

Held tomorrow night, September 25th at the Pinnacle Center, 3330 Highland Drive, Hudsonville, the doors will open a 6 p.m. with the evening concluding by about 8:30 p.m.

Robert Lupton will speak about his assertion that "while giving may seem like the kind and Christian thing to do, it often ends up undermining the very relationship a helper (donor) is attempting to build with a recipient." He asserts that "without realizing it, the giver is taking away human dignity and make the individual feel as though they are incapable of doing for themselves."

The Guiding Light Mission exists to create a healing experience for men.  They provide food, and shelter to all, and resources to support social, physical, spiritual, and intellectual needs.

Tickets are $30, with a table for 10 at $250.
