In an effort to smooth things out, Grand Rapids is set to spend $900k on new sidewalks. The money will be split between the 3 wards. Ward 1 repairs will begin in April and run until June. Construction on Ward 2 will take place from September until November. Ward 3 sidewalks will receive treatment beginning in July.

The project consists of repairing sidewalks, sidewalk ramps, curbs and gutters. Over the coming weeks you might notice inspectors marking up sidewalks as they are taking note of the worst spots. Epic Excavating and Kamminga and Roodvoets, both local companies, will be doing all the work.

If city sidewalk repairs are set to take place across your driveway, you'll receive 24 hours notice. The city told WOOD TV that the time frame for work in front of any home will average about one week.
