GR Santa Parade Has Officially Been Canceled This Year
A week ago, it was announced that the Santa Parade would be a reverse drive-by parade, meaning you as the parade attendee would drive-by the parade which was going to remain parked along Wealthy.
Well, now the Grand Rapids Junior Chamber and Santa Parade Committee have made the difficult decision to cancel the parade all together to hopefully keep everyone, the spectators and participants, safe as event restrictions have changed recently through the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
As their Facebook post reads:
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the safety of the participants and spectators, and the event restrictions put in place by the State of Michigan and its Department of Health and Human Services,the Grand Rapids Junior Chamber made the difficult decision to cancel the traditional Grand Rapids Santa Parade that was set to take place on Saturday, November 21st, 2020.
The post did continue by saying even though we're unable to celebrate together, they hoped "Grand Rapids and Local communities" would "celebrate in spirit." They also encourage everyone to keep following their Facebook page and social media as they continue to look for ways for the community to come together this holiday season.
It is going to be a weird holiday season because sitting on Santa's lap won't be a thing this year, nor will holiday parties, that don't happen on Zoom. Maybe that will keep embarrassing things from happening at the company holiday party?
