I didn't even know this was possible, but it is, and now the dude wants to surf the whole thirty mile trip.

The Beaver Island Ferry runs between the mainland at Charlevoix to scenic Beaver Island, thirty miles out in Lake Michigan. Neither is known for their great surfing. marginal, but not great.

But with a hydrofoil surfboard anything is possible.

Grand Rapids native Ryan Bezemek posted video to his Instagram feed this week of him hydro surfing behind the wake of the Beaver Island Ferry recently. Bezemek trailed the big boat about four miles before cashing in his chips.

Bezemek told MLive.com that he would like to surf the entire 30 mile journey over to the island at some point in the future, but he's not in shape for that yet.

"I have some more training to do," he said. "Training my legs. Strength and conditioning wise, I'm not quite there yet."
