Neil Patrick said it best at last night's 2013 Prime-Time Emmy Awards, "This just in. Nobody in America is winning their Emmy office pool. Surprises galore,"

He wasn't kidding. The Emmys telecast had a number of upsets, defying conventional wisdom in several categories, including some acting wins.I'll have to admit, I never expected Jeff Daniels to win outstanding lead actor in a drama series for "The Newsroom" but he did.

I'm a huge Daniels fan, so this was great in my book.  However, the surprises continued.

Merritt Wever's win in the supporting actress in a comedy category for "Nurse Jackie" was a huge surprise as well.

I did love her acceptance speech. She said, "Thank you so much. Thank you so much. Um, I gotta go, bye."

If you missed last night, here is the complete list of winners.
