It continues to be hard times for box stores as another nationwide chain declares bankruptcy and announces it will close all of its stores.

Dressbarn has announced that it will close all of its approximately 650 stores across the nation.  A spokesperson for Dressbarn stated that they are closing because "the Dressbarn chain has not been operating at an acceptable level of profitability in today's retail environment.”

This trend of nationwide chains closing is no new thing, with 8,139 chain stores closing in 2017, 5,864 closings in 2018, and now over 7,000 closings announced for 2019.

Dressbarn is owned by Ascena Retail Group who has said that this bankruptcy and closures won't affect its other brands: Ann Taylor, Lane Bryant, Catherines, Cacique and Justice.
