This weekend dogs will fill Riverside Park in Grand Rapids for the annual Dog Day in the Park event, which works to promote responsible dog ownership.

This day-long event includes educational booths, dog-friendly apartment communities, demonstrations, dog carting, canine first aid and CPR, micro-chipping and nail trimming, face painting, and a K-9 Unit from the Grand Rapids Police Department.

Best-selling author, Peg Cochran, also known as Meg London, will be on hand to sign books and answer question. She'll also have her dog Reggie with her.

There will also be Canine Good Citizen evaluations, a presentation on service animals vs. therapy dogs, rescue groups, and vendors. There will also be carnival games and concessions, plus a free doggy bag will be given to those that donate at least five pounds of dog, cat, or bird food. Contributions will be donated to Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank.
