Central Michigan had a 14 - 13 lead over Minnesota late in the 4th quarter of the Quick Lane Bowl at Ford Field in Detroit, but was not able to stop Minnesota's late drive as the Golden Gophers beat CMU 21 - 14.

CMU led 7 - 3 early in the 2nd quarter, but Minnesota took a 10 - 7 lead into halftime.

Central Michigan took a 14 - 13 lead early in the 4th quarter after a strong 13 yard touchdown run by Romello Ross.

Minnesota answered with their own 13 yard touchdown run when quarterback Mitch Leidner took the ball in for a score with 4:26 left in the game. A successful 2 point conversion stretched the lead to 21 - 14 which would be the final score.

The Chippewas had one final chance from their own 30 yard line as time expired, but were unable to pull off the miracle finish.
