Well if you like to camp, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources has some good news for you.

According to WOOD-TV8, the DNR have announced their plans and dates for state campgrounds, harbors, and other state run outdoor locations.

Here is a list that was put together by the DNR:

  • Camping at state forest campgrounds and overnight stays in harbors begin June 10
  • Camping, overnight lodging facilities, day use shelters and sanitation stations at state parks and recreation areas open June 22.
  • Silver Lake State Park Off-Road Vehicle Area opens June 13
  • Museums, historic sites, visitor centers and shooting ranges are still awaiting a decision.

We can identify with the passion and enthusiasm people have for these beautiful outdoor spaces, especially during the warmer months, and we're working hard to make sure everything is ready.

If you are looking into a specific state park, you get all that info here on the DNR's website. If you plan on making some reservations for state parks and harbors just call 800-44PARKS or hit them up online.

Social distancing is still required in all parks. You are limited to groups of 100 people or less. According to the DNR the sanitation process has now changed so you will want to know the rules where you are staying.
