Breakfast , they say, is the most important meal in the day. That's why on the weekends, my wife Kathy and I love going out for breakfast. Not that the Rent kitchen isn't a good one. We can make killer omelets. I make killer pancakes from scratch. But, hey, I don't have to do the dishes when we're out.

So I thought it would be fun to talk about our favorite breakfast spots.

Today, it's the Brandywine!

They have two locations, on the East Beltline, and in Eastown, on Lake Drive. My favorite is Eastown. It's smaller than the other, but the ambiance is cozy, cool and eclectic, just like the coffee mugs. No, really, the coffee mugs. They're from all over the country that people have donated and always have a logo and location on them. Great conversation piece.

But, let's get to the food. Great! Yes, they serve lunch and dinner, but who wouldn't want breakfast. With fresh ingredients, the scrambles, omelets, eggs benedict, pancakes, that are as big as your head, and more, are out of this world. I always get the english muffin toast and skip the pancakes, otherwise they'd have to wheel me out. The coffee is good, and the super friendly staff are always circulating pouring more.

Yep, the Brandywine is my type of place. Delicious, fresh food, friendly, down to earth, great atmosphere, and home grown.

All of that said, that doesn't mean I don't have other "breakfast spots" I like as well. Next time, I'll talk about another favorite Rent breakfast haunt.
