Artists inspired by the outdoors in Michigan have a unique opportunity.

The Porcupine Mountains Artist-in-Residence Program is offering artists a free stay in a rustic cabin in Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park for a minimum of two weeks.

The Michigan DNR has announced that applications are now open for 2020 spring, 2020 summer, 2020 fall and 2021 winter residencies.

The residencies are open to writers, composers and all visual and performing artists.

There are a few requirements for artists. Artists will be asked to share their experiences through public demonstrations or talks. Artists are also required to donate an art piece inspired by their stay.

Artists who will meet the requirements will be chosen based on artistic integrity and their ability to interpret Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park through their medium.

Applications must be received by Feb. 14, 2020. Selections will be made by early April. Apply here.
