Art Prize Winner Will Create Celebration On The Grand Poster

The artist whose 28-foot-wide pencil drawing won the 2010 ArtPrize competition will create the poster for the 2011 Celebration on the Grand.

"Celebration on the Grand is a wonderfully positive and successful long-standing event that encourages incredible camaraderie among our local community," Chris LaPorte said. "I am looking forward to creating a poster that captures that history in an interesting way."

WZZM TV13 reports that following the unveiling of the poster, prints of LaPorte's work will be available for sale, with proceeds benefiting the Grand Rapids Art Museum and future Celebration on the Grand events.

Celebration on the Grand runs from September 8 - 10 in downtown Grand Rapids.
