Are You Spending More Or Less On Gifts This Holiday Season? [Poll]

The coronavirus pandemic has impacted almost every event in 2020 and it's not letting up for the holiday season.  With states experiencing different levels of restrictions and lockdowns, many Americans are changing their shopping habits this Christmas.

According to a Gallup poll, 28% of Americans say that they plan on spending less on gifts this holiday season than they did in 2019.  The poll also showed that 12% of Americans are planning on spending more for the holidays than they did last year.

The average amount of spending by Americans during the holidays has fluctuated from year to year with this year's average being amount being spent by an individual on gifts being $802.  This is down from 2019's average of $942, which was the highest amount of spending since Gallup started giving the poll in 2002.
