    Movies on Monroe: Into the Spider-Verse & A Star is Born

    Movies on Monroe, the premier outdoor film series in Grand Rapids, returns this summer with big screen entertainment by the banks of the Grand River! This event will feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (PG) and A Star is Born (R) in English with Spanish subtitles. Movies will play on 400-square foot LED video wall. Moviegoers are encouraged to bring their own chairs, beer, wine, and snacks. Rental lawn chairs will be available for $2 per chair. Food trucks will be on-site and various snacks will be available for purchase at the event. Pets are welcome! This is a smoke-free event series. Costumes are encouraged.

    The MSU Gran Fondo is a fun, non-competitive cycling event to support Michigan State University College of Human Medicine’s skin cancer awareness, prevention and research. Cyclists of all skill levels can join as individuals or teams and ride along scenic 25, 40 or 80-mile routes from downtown Grand Rapids to Lake Michigan or enjoy the YMCA Family Ride for a slower paced 12-mile ride. Participants enjoy gourmet food stops along the route and celebrate at the Finish Line Festival with live music, craft brews and a grand feast.

    There are some pretty special dogs here in West Michigan, and they are throwing a party!The assistance dogs at Paws With A Cause are hosting a 40th Anniversary Celebration Open House this Saturday. Paws With A Cause® enhances the independence and quality of life for people with disabilities nationally through custom-trained Assistance Dogs. As they celebrate 40 years, they would like you to come and visit their facilities to learn more about their programs. Scott Winters, from 98.7 WFGR, will be broadcasting from the Open House starting at 11 am.

    Eastown Bizarre Bazaar features local artists, potters, sculptors, and jewelry designers in the heart of Eastown. This event is hosted by the Eastown Community Association and the Eastown Business Association to celebrate art, entertainment, and the unique Eastown culture with over 80 local artists and craftspeople with bands performing throughout the day. This year will be the third year for the craft beverage tent. They will be serving up some fine local craft beers, ciders and wine for your enjoyment until 7 pm!

It is a holistic music festival on all levels, with a great deal of heart.

    For more than twenty years, Bill Maher has set the boundaries of where funny, political talk can go on American television. Now, the TV host, author, comedian, and Emmy-award winning producer brings his wits and commentary to Grand Rapids. First on "Politically Incorrect" (Comedy Central, ABC, 1993-2002), and for the last fourteen years on HBO's "Real Time," Maher's combination of unflinching honesty and big laughs have garnered him 41 Emmy nominations. Maher started his career as a stand-up comedian in 1979, and still performs at least fifty dates a year in Las Vegas and in sold out theatres across the country. Four of his ten stand-up specials for HBO - 2014's "Bill Maher: Live from DC," 2007's "The Decider," 2005's "I'm Swiss," as well as the hilarious , "Bill Maher... But I'm Not Wrong," - have been nominated for Emmy awards.
