Get ready for a lot of sobbing teens around your house today. One Direction is heading directly to Splitsville.

A source tells Us Weekly that the group has decided to make their planned hiatus a permanent one. According to the source, 1D "decided “not to renew their recording contract” after completing their tour in October. "The 1D thing just ran its course. They’ll remain friends, but they are exhausted and want solo careers.”

The decision comes about a year after Zayn Malik left the group to pursue his own projects. It appears the remaining members now want to do the same. Reps for One Direction have not yet commented on the news.

Pass the hankies.
