A semi truck crashed into an electrical pole at a Grand Rapids intersection and knocked out power to buildings throughout the downtown area Tuesday morning.
The crash happened at around 10:30 a.m. at Michigan Street and Diamond Avenue.
As of noon today, more than 285,000 Consumers Energy customers statewide were without power caused by a snow and ice storm over the weekend.
That includes nearly 70,000 in Grand Rapids and West Michigan, according to the Jackson, Mich.-based utility.
Ice combined with snow has led to numerous power outages in West Michigan.
Since noon Saturday, more than 175,000 Consumers Energy customers have been affected by electricity outages in Michigan.
