Rocky the dog is our special pet of the week.

Andy Rent talked about him on his Andy in the Morning show for Wet Nose Wednesday.

Brooke, from the Humane Society of West Michigan, brought Rocky into the studios. Rocky is a  2 year old Dachshund mix. Rocky had been abandoned when the Humane Society found him and is looking for love.

It’s hard to stay in a bad mood with a Dachsie around, according to the American Kennel Club. He is upbeat and curious. Dachshunds are lovable, playful companions, and an ideal pet for many homes, including those with children with appropriate supervision. They require moderate exercise, and can adapt to most living environments. And of course, Rocky is neutered, had all his vaccinations, is micro-chipped, and ready to find a new home.

Tonight at the Pot Belly Sandwich Shops in Grand Rapids, they will be donating a portion of their sandwich sales to the Humane Society from 5 to 7 p.m. So, tonight, get a great sandwich at any of the Pot Belly locations from 5 to 7 p.m. and help the Humane Society at the same time.

October is Pit-Bull awareness month, and the Humane Society is having a Pit-Bull special they call their Pretty Pitty week. Through this Saturday, October 15, all adult Pit-Bulls are only $50.

The Humane Society is open Sundays from 11 - 4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, 12 - 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 11 - 4 p.m.).  Closed Monday.
