The Grand Rapids Civic Theatre and School of Theatre Art’s Traveling Troupe will be presenting FREE performances of “The Surprising Story of the Three Little Pigs” March 10th and 17th.

The Grand Rapids Civic Theatre and School of Theatre Art’s Traveling Troupe performs for area elementary schools.  This show is for general seating with a 2:00pm start time.

The Civic Theatre offers these free performances as way to introduce young children to the wonder of live theatre. Director Penelope Notter says the production is suitable for audience members as young as four and as mature as one hundred and four!   The Theatre will offer one additional free public performance during Festival 2012 - June 2nd on the Civic Stage.

The Surprising Story of the Three Little Pigs presents a whimsical combination of three classic fairy tales.  The Three Little Pigs, The Three Billy Goats Gruff and Goldilocks and the Three Bears join forces to change the outcome of their perilous stories and defeat the infamous villains.  Children are allowed to sit on the stage and become a part of the performance – creating an interactive theatre experience that entertains, as wells as, engages a child’s creativity.

In addition to the free public performances, the traveling troupe makes weekly visits to West Michigan Elementary Schools from March – May.   For more information contact the School of Theatre Arts 616-222-6653.

You've heard me say it time and time again that the most wonderful experience for a child is to see live entertainment at a young age.  With all the computer technology in the world it is good for them to see, learn, and hopefully begin to use their own imaginations!
