I grew up in Ohio. Don't come at me. I can't help where I was born and raised. With that being said, I got to the mitten state just as soon as I could.

On Thanksgiving weekend, It's not politics that we argue about around the table, it's football. This year, I did have to endure some Buckeyes over the holiday.

The Michigan Wolverines clinched the Big Ten East by beating Ohio State University and will play in the conference title game next week with playoff hopes in hand after snapping an eight-game losing streak to Ohio State.

This did not sit well with some life-long Buckeyes. I thought I'd share some ruminations I over heard.

"I feel awful," Ohio State head coach Ryan Day said after the game.

"We haven’t been in this position in forever, so it’s tough,” Ohio State receiver Chris Olave said.

"Harbaugh did coach in a Superbowl. Don't know if I'd call this "the biggest game of his coaching career", said one Ohioan.

In between bites of left over pie, one Buckeye fan said, "It only took them 10 years to do it."

Another added, "Well, Michigan didn't look "so special" against Michigan State!"

The same sour grape spewing person lamented, "Without Haskins, Michigan doesn't win. He scored five touchdowns!"

The youngest of the crowd commented, "Michigan is my 4th favorite Big Ten team."

There was the proverbial name-calling, swearing and disgruntled descriptions of Ann Arbor. I believe at one point someone called Harbaugh a nose-picker and then made fun of his khaki pants.

Spirited rivalries! Isn't this why we love college football so much? It leads to passionate discourse.

It's been 35 years since I was a resident of Ohio. And now, I'm on my second tour of Michigan. I would have been ok with either team winning because I enjoy the Big Ten but since it turned out the way it did, I'll finish with Go Blue!

Time to reset the rivalry clock.
