122 Michigan schools have been awarded the MI HEARTSafe School designation which recognizes schools that are prepared to respond to cardiac emergencies.

Recommended Level of Fluoride in Drinking Water Lowered, Grand Rapids Already at Recommended Level

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recently released its final recommendation for optimal fluoride level in drinking water to prevent tooth decay.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reports the new recommendation is for a single level of 0.7 milligrams of fluoride per liter of water instead of the previous recommended range (0.7 to 1.2 milligrams per liter) issued in 1962.

City of Grand Rapids fluoride levels were already set at 0.7 milligrams per liter of water.
