Ava the dog is our special pet of the week.

Andy Rent talked about him on his Andy in the Morning show for Wet Nose Wednesday.

Meet Ava, a 3-year old American Staffordshire Terrier mix. Trudy, from the Humane Society, brought Ava into the studios. She is brown and brindled in color, with a bit of white, has has had all her vaccinations, is spayed, micro chipped and ready to find her forever home.

According to the American Kennel Club, the Staffordshire Terrier is a confident, good-natured and smart dog. They enjoy daily exercise and is adaptable to almost anything you want to do to provide this. Sounds like a good pet to me.

Trudy mentioned they are having a dog adoption special - I Love Big Mutts. All dogs 40 pounds and over are only $100.00! That's a savings of $75 through a grant from Best Friends Animal Society.

Also, here is exciting news. Kat from Bissell Pet Foundation visited with Trudy to talk about the Free Adoption Day sponsored by Bissell Pet Foundation this  Saturday, August 13 from 11 to 4 p.m.

You can get all the information on the Humane Society website or call (616) 453-8900.
