Plenty of people have been up in arms since September about Maroon 5 headlining the halftime show. Fans are insisting that it should have been a band or artist from Atlanta performing, like Outkast, T.I., Future, Ludacris, Usher, or literally anyone OTHER than Maroon 5, but now people are saying it should be... SpongeBob SquarePants?

With a heavy heart, people around the world said goodbye to SpongeBob SquarePants creator Stephen Hillenburg last week after losing his battle with ALS. The creative genius was only 57. Hillenburg shared back in March of 2017 that he was diagnosed with the disease. Nickelodeon took to twitter that day with this statement to announce his passing:

Wether or not you are a fan of the show SpongeBob Squarepants, you might be familiar with the iconic scene where he and his friends ROCK out the "Bubble Bowl" in the episode Band Practice with their performance of "Sweet Victory". If you have yet to see it, check it out.

It didn't take long for fans of Stephen Hillenburg to take to the web and start a petition saying that the halftime show for 2019 should be a recreation of the scene in the show above. Currently, the petition is almost up to 500,000 signatures!

Will this be enough to change the lineup? Probably not buuuut if anything it is an epic homage to the creator's work and life.
