On Thursday the CDC expanded their guidelines on who should get a booster shot for the Covid 19 vaccine.

The guidelines were updated to include individuals who received a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. Those groups are eligible for a booster shot at 6 months or more after their initial series if they fall into one of the following categories:

Boosters for those who got the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine are recommended for those who are 18 and older and who were vaccinated two or more months ago.

For many West Michigan residents who were vaccinated at DeVos Place as part of the large-scale clinic or those who got their vaccines early in the year, that 6-month window is here.

Those looking to get their booster shots have many options in West Michigan.

While the large scale vaccination clinics at places like DeVos Hall are no longer available, there are still many community clinics available on the website VaccinateWestMI.com

Metro Health
Metro Health MyChart or you can also call 616.252.6161 to schedule your vaccine appointment or with any questions.

Mercy Health
Mercy Health has set up online scheduling and has a call-in line available at 1-833-247-1258.

Local Pharmacies
For those who would like walk-in options, CVS, Walgreens, & Meijer also have vaccine availability, as do many local pharmacies.
