I've never really thought about Christmas cocktails other than eggnog, but apparently there is more than just one Christmas drink. The website alcohol.org conducted a survey of 3,000 Americans who are old enough to drink, to come up with a list of the most popular Christmas cocktails across the country.  What is  your favorite?

Of course eggnog is on the list. Other drinks considered to be Christmas cocktails include Champagne, Hot Buttered Rum, a Hot Toddy, Irish Coffee, a Mimosa, a Moscow Mule, and Whiskey.

At the top of everyone's list was eggnog! Eggnog was the chosen favorite in 27 states across the country.

What is Michigan's Favorite?

Here in Michigan eggnog is also the favorite. Second on our state's list was whiskey, and third place was the Hot Toddy.

Some of the other interesting finds in the survey were that one in three Americans admit they start drinking first thing in the morning on Christmas Day. I've never thought of having a drink while opening gifts in the morning, but of all years -- this might be the year to consider it!

Also, the average American drinker spends $31 on alcohol over Christmas time. That's not so hard to do. A bottle of alcohol and some beer and you've hit that mark.

The alcohol.org website is a resource for the treatment of substance use disorders.

And remember, if you do decide to have a few Christmas cocktails...please drink responsibly and don't drink and drive.
