Tuesday was primary election day across the country and many in West Michigan voted to see who would be on the ballot this fall and for a variety of other issues.

Millages passed in Kent County for schools, fire and more. Those passing millages include: Byron Township, Grand Rapids Township, Oakfield Township, Plainfield Township, Sparta Township, Spencer Township and Tyrone Township.

Plainfield Township's Trails Millage was one of the closest votes passing 53% - 47% percent.

Many also voted on Township offices. Byron Township has a new supervisor after Tom Hooker beat incumbent Audrey Nevins-Weiss, 65% - 35%.

1,405,048 voters turned out statewide.
