September is National Baby Safety Month and according to ABC 7 in Detroit, Walmart is going to hold their first ever "Car seat recycling" event.

From September 16th through the 30th, you can bring in your old car seat, to the service desk, and they'll give you a $30 Walmart git card, which you could use for a new, safer car seat... or whatever else you need the $30 for.

According to ABC 7, they'll accept any brand of car seat, and you can bring in up to 2 car seats. But don't try to turn in your booster seat, because that's not part of the program.

All car seats will be recycled by TerraCycle, who partnered with the retailer for the national car seat recycling event.

Again according to ABC 7, here's how you recycle your old car seat,

  • Bring your car seat to the trade-in event at your participating Walmart Supercenter

  • Take the car seat to the Customer Service counter to be recycled

  • Receive your $30 Walmart gift card that you can use in store or online to buy items for your baby
