There are many awards handed out each year for some outstanding efforts.

Not considering Oscar, Grammy, Golden Globe and the like, there are some very deserving people and groups doing fine and exciting work that are recognized.  Not the least of which is our very own UICA!

The Urban Institute of Contemporary Arts won the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program award for Artworks, a career development program hoping to ready creative students for creative careers.

To receive their award a group flew to Washington D.C. and First Lady Michelle Obama presented the award.

There were more than 400 programs nominated for the honor, and Artworks was one of just a dozen programs that received it. They also receive $10,000 to support the program.

Congrats UICA!  Job well done.
