As the weather cools and we head into fall, a pop-up bar in downtown Grand Rapids is aiming to help us hold on to summery vibes.

Grand Rapids Business Journal reports that AC Hotels at 50 Monroe Ave. NW is transforming its lounge into a tropical pop-up called La Ventanita starting Tuesday, September 15, through "the foreseeable future”.

In addition to tropical cocktails and a special wine list, the pop-up will serve Spanish and Latin American-inspired food, like crispy ham croquetas and a Cuban hamburger with Colombian-style fried potatoes.

You can bring the tropical treats outside with you too as they've added outdoor seating.

Ryan Schmied, general manager of the AC Hotel tells GRBJ,

“AHC Hospitality wanted to create a new and exciting experience for AC Hotel guests and Grand Rapids locals alike. To ensure everyone’s safety, we added outdoor seating and are complying with all local and state COVID-related guidelines.”

La Ventanita is open Monday through Saturday 4-10 p.m. with half-off drinks during happy hour weekdays 4-6 p.m.

AC Hotel is one of the establishments that has been approved by The City of Grand Rapids and the Michigan Liquor Control Commission to serve the "Hotel/ Arena Refreshment Area" downtown GR-- so that means that you can walk around outside with your drink. It will need to be in a designated cup and you'll have to stay within Refreshment Area boundary. You can find out more about Grand Rapids Refreshment Areas here.
