It's difficult to think about, but while many may have a happy holiday season with parties, presents and delicious food on our tables, there are thousands of Kent County families that are struggling, and a good holiday meal is but a dream. That's where you can help.Access of Kent County and their Holiday Giving Network, have been signing up families to receive food to ensuring that each of those families is provided for.

Without the help of a generous community, the pantries are unable to assist the over 7,000 Kent County families that have registered to receive a holiday food supply. Sad to say, but currently, over 400 Kent County families are still in need of a Christmas food provider.

At this time of year, those who are living from paycheck to paycheck do not have the resources for a special holiday meal or for toys for their children.  By connecting these families to those in the community who are willing to give a supply of holiday food, the Holiday Giving Network offers a moment of relief for families battling multi-faceted issues of poverty, while at the same time allowing the community to share resources through the food pantries that serve diligently all year long.

Emma Garcia is the Hunger Response Director at Access of West Michigan which houses both the Kent County based Access Pantry Network and the Holiday Giving Network. Emma said they are working hard to make sure no one falls through the cracks and that those who are willing to give get plugged into help.
