The City of Grand Rapids has added what they're calling a "safety" kiosk to Monroe Ave lobby at city hall, which is available to all residents to take advantage of, according to the post on the City of Grand Rapids Facebook page.

According to the Facebook post, the safety kiosks not only will take the users' temperature, without anyone having to touch the system, but will as distribute PPE to residents such as face masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer.

Fox 17 reports that the kiosk didn't cost local taxpayers money as the city bought the kiosk using CARES Act money the city received during the pandemic; the cost was $4,900.

Ken Goodwin who works within the City of Grand Rapids' Risk Management Department, told Fox 17,

“We definitely put this kiosk here because we want to encourage customers as they come in to be able to utilize this. And it definitely gives them a sense of safety and security because not only can they check their own temperature, but then they can help themselves to either PPE that they need currently, or they can actually use a few that they can actually use elsewhere outside of City Hall.”

The kiosk is located inside the lobby located at 300 Monroe Ave. and is available to residents during normal business hours for City Hall.
