Happy 50th Birthday, Walker!  The Walker Festival is this weekend, June 16th at City Central Park, behind City Hall on Remembrance Road.

Calling all kids ages 12 and under!  Pedal your bike over the the Walker Festival Parade, Saturday morning and learn bike safety, get fitted for helmets, play some Bike Bingo, then join the parade and show off your decorated bike, you can win some great prizes!  The theme this year is the 1960's.  Maybe mom and dad, or grandpa and grandma can help you out with this one (ask them about the psychedelic 60's).

Judging will be based on originality and the grooviest bikes win, so start getting creative!  Goodie bags for the first 100 kids, and best decorated bikes win prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.  It all happens behind the Walker Kent District Library, in the parking lot.  Get there early, 8:30am is bike safety, helmet fittings, helmet decorating and Bike Bingo and 9:45am kicks off the line up for the parade and prizes.

***There will also be a Memory Run/Walk for Walker Police Officer Trevor Slot, who was killed in the line of duty on October 13, 2011 when he was struck and killed by a bank robbery suspect while attempting to deploy stop sticks on I-96 at 8th Avenue.

Come on out and celebrate, remember all things good in Walker, Michigan.  To see a line up of all the fun activities, food and refreshment tents, petting zoo and camel rides, eating contests and more visit the Walker Festival website.
