Kayla Redding and Callie Hooker, both managers at the Melting Pot of Grand Rapids, stopped by Channel 95.7's "Connie and Curtis", firing up some fondues with some pyrotechnics.

The drop in was for Dessert Wars, which is Thursday night at Amway Grand Plaza hotel's Ambassador Ballroom in downtown Grand Rapids.

Visiting The Melting Pot, as Connie points out, is an "experience."

"You're going to be spending time with us," Redding said of the The Melting Pot of Grand Rapids' fondues-focused, yet varied menu. "You're going to be getting to know each other; your server. It's definitely" an experience.

The Melting Pot is bringing its signature chocolate fondue with dipping options to serve up among about a dozen sweets, pastry, bread and ice cream makers from Grand Rapids and across West Michigan taking part in Dessert Wars, presented by Channel 95.7 and Hobart Corp. Running 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Amway Grand Plaza, 187 Monroe Avenue NW, admission is $8 and children younger than 9 years old are $2 with tickets available at the door. Admission includes 15 sample tickets, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Grand Rapids non-profit Kids' Food Basket.

Locally owned and operated since 2005, The Melting Pot is located at 2090 Celebration Drive NE at Knapp's Corner in Grand Rapids. Besides its varied chocolate and cheese fondues, its menu includes varied entrees, salads and more than 200 wine selections. It also offers ongoing specials.

For Dessert Wars, The Melting Pot's dessert du jour is going to be its luscious milk chocolate fondue coupled with pound cake, brownies and strawberries as dipping options.
